    1. Hey Gina,

Thanks for the comment! What I meant by that, is to me, in my opinion, Black motherhood is fragile in America. Black Motherhood has always been devalued, misunderstood, talked badly about/ harshly in the media. Black motherhood is also under attack by the sheer number of Black women given hysterectomies as their only option. I was told that myself. I was just told, in the harshest of ways, that I would never have children and I would never obviously be a mother. All that said by a careless doctor who did not care to see me and my Blackness procreate. There are many doctors out there who do not care about seeing me or my people advance as a race. That is who I am talking about, and I get really passionate about it, because I see it happen to too many women of color, who in large numbers, are dealt this fibroids diagnosis. I want Black women to be valued and loved, and that is incredibly close to my heart. I hope you stick around to read more, Gina. 🙂

      1. I am sickened and saddened to hear that you or anyone else would be treated this way .
I hope you are able to find a new doctor . A doctor that will treat you with the respect and human decency that you deserve .

      2. Hey Gina,

It’s a crazy world sometimes. I hope that by writing this blog, I can help build community around this issue. I was clueless, and I had no idea that it didn’t have to be an automatic hysterectomy like I was told. Thank goodness I learned more soon. I am on the search for a new doctor.
